TripAdvisor: Historian Inn, Gardnerville – “Wonderful Stay”
This is a lovely hotel, right in town, that really lives up to its own advertisement. Our King room was beautiful, especially the slab wood countertop and headboard. We had a 2 pm wedding to get to, and the management worked hard to get us early check-in at noon. In-room amenities were high-quality (robes, lotion, fridge/micro, etc.) and there were snacks available for purchase, in room, at extremely reasonable prices. Strong, hot shower. Breakfast was free yogurt parfait or hot oatmeal, with additional items available for purchase, again very reasonable. And the coffee! For Peets or Starbucks fans, you will be very pleasantly surprised with the breakfast buffet coffee. The courtyard parking was nice, though all of downtown was fine and we had no security concerns at all. Free Wifi was good…
Would Definitely Stay Again – Historian Inn (Yelp)
My daughter and I were vendors at the Candy Dance in Genoa. We had the greatest time. Very reasonable, great yogurt or hot cooked oatmeal ready for us for breakfast! Very small convenience store in lobby with wine shop! Very pleasant staff. Very happy with our stay! Just down the street from the “other” hotel that most vendors stayed (which I heard nothing good about and priced more!), not knowing about the Historian Inn. We certainly let them know how ours was! I would very much like to recommend the Historian Inn! Very comfy beds and bedding, large flat screen, very clean, walking distance from great restaurants! Would definitely stay again! They will match online deals by calling direct! No… no one paid me to write this review!

Excellent Smoke-Free Lodging in the Historic Carson Valley
“Our recent trip to Carson Valley, Nevada proved to be even more than the local tourism bureau boasts when they say Carson Valley, Nevada prides itself on being a “Rugged, Relaxed, and Reachable Couples travel destination.”
The Historian Inn was an exceptionally pleasant, immaculately clean and a very comfortable, relaxed, and rugged lodging experience within the heart of the Carson Valley. We enjoyed that it was central to shopping gaming, hot springs, the V&T railroad and much of the valley’s history.
We were welcomed into a clean, comfy and roomy lodge-style great room, when we checked in, and this offered us a relaxing place to read and snack and decompress from the drive. A Market/Cafe coffee shop and Salon were also nice bonuses on property, convenient for an afternoon nosh, and we especially appreciated the lack of usual cigarette smoke and gaming noise so often found in some other Carson Valley properties.
For a couple seemingly always on the go, we appreciated that our room was spacious, neat, well-decorated with western decor and quiet to boot. We enjoyed the historic art and artifacts blended with modern niceties.
Parking was easy and a quality amenities like robes and teas and excellent toiletries and snacks were furnished along with extras that were available for purchase. The proximity to dining and recreational activities made it the perfect hub for exploring the area by car or foot. For Carson Valley moderate priced lodging, it was impeccable.
While we did not have our dog with us on this visit, we noted that dogs are very welcome with a very reasonable pet fee of only $20 for the entire duration of the stay”.
The best place to stay! – Historian Inn (Trip Advisor)
This by far was the best Hotel my husband and myself have ever stayed in. It was so very clean. A fantastic King Bed with 6 pillows not your normal 2 small ones. All the employees were very nice. Right after we left I noticed I lost an earring (probably in all the pillows). And guess what? I never called them, but they called and asked if I lost an earring and that they would mail it to me. We will absolutely be staying there every time we go up that way. Thanks again Historian Inn for making our stay special.

Perfect Stay! – Historian Inn, Gardnerville, NV
If you are going to or through this area, this is the place to stay! We came through on the first night of a cross country road trip, and we received a warm welcome after a long day of driving through the cold. We had read it had recently been renovated; it basically feels like a brand new establishment. The rooms are huge for a standard room, beautiful furnished (no floral comforters here!), and very cozy and relaxing. It was clean and had a nice spacious bathroom area. The staff at the front desk was very friendly and the lobby is just as nice as the rooms. I hope to stay here again one day!
